Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- Diploma or equivalent in Coaching from SAI NS NIS or any recognized Indian / Foreign University
OR - Represented India in Olympic / Paralympic / International competitions as defined by SAI
OR - Dronacharya Awardee
Service Eligibility (For Retired Officers)
Applicants should be retired government officers fulfilling one of the following:
- Holding analogous post in Level-12 on regular basis
OR - Minimum 5 years regular service in Level-11 (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700)
OR - 10 years regular service in Level-10/11, with at least 2 years in Level-11
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of coaching experience in relevant sports from Government / Recognized Institute / Private Organisation
Age Limit:
- Maximum Age: Not exceeding 64 years
SAI Chief Coach Salary Structure 2026
- Remuneration: Last Pay Drawn minus Basic Pension
- Salary will remain fixed during the entire contract period
- No DA, HRA, Medical, LTC, or annual increment
- Transport Allowance:
- ₹5,580 per month
- ₹11,160 per month (depending on place of posting)

Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Shortlisting based on eligibility and experience
- Personal Interview
- Final selection by the SAI Selection / Interview Committee
Contract & Service Conditions
- Contract period will be 1 year or till attaining 65 years of age, whichever is earlier
- Extension may be given based on performance review and SAI requirement
- Posting: Anywhere in India at SAI centres
- Leave: 1.5 days per month (Maximum 18 days per year)
- Unused leave will lapse automatically
- TDS will be deducted as per rules
- No TA/DA for interview or joining
