UPTET 2026 Online Form Apply Before 26 April Exam on 2 July

UPTET 2026 Notification is out — and if you want to become a teacher in Uttar Pradesh’s government or aided schools, this is your first and most important step. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has published the Information Booklet for UPTET 2026 under Advertisement No. 01/UPTET/2026.

The application window opens on 27 March 2026 and closes on 26 April 2026. The UPTET 2026 exam is scheduled for 2, 3, and 4 July 2026. Do not wait until the last day—apply early to avoid technical issues.

As mentioned in the official notification, General/OBC/EWS candidates pay ₹1,000 for either paper, and SC/ST/PH pay less. The combined application fee for both papers is ₹1,200 for General/OBC and ₹800 for SC/ST candidates. Always confirm the final fee breakup from the official notification before paying.

There is no age limit to apply for the UPTET Exam 2026. UPTET 2026 is a qualifying eligibility test, not a direct recruitment exam. Any candidate who meets the educational qualification can appear regardless of age. The age requirement will apply separately when you apply for actual teacher recruitment after qualifying for the UPTET.

UPTET 2026 Paper I and Paper II

UPTET has two papers. You need to decide which one to apply for based on which class level you want to teach:

The exam is conducted in two shifts. Shift 1 (Paper 1) runs from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Shift 2 (Paper 2) runs from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

For Paper I — Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)

You must have any one of the following qualifications:

  • Graduation degree + 2-year D.El.Ed (BTC) from an NCTE-recognized institution affiliated with the UP government — either completed or in the final year
  • Graduation + 2-year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) through distance learning mode
  • Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Education (D.Ed) in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution
  • 12th (Intermediate) with at least 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed course (completed or in final year)
  • Graduation + Urdu BTC or other BTC qualifications applicable in Uttar Pradesh

For Paper II — Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8)

You must have any one of the following:

  • Graduation degree (with at least 50% marks) + B.Ed from an NCTE-recognized institution
  • Graduation + B.El.Ed (4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education)
  • Graduation + D.El.Ed / BTC (in some cases, as per UP rules)
  • Graduation + Diploma in Education (Special Education) from an RCI-recognized institution
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks + B.Ed (for candidates with specific conditions as per NCTE norms)

Exam Pattern:

The UPTET 2026 exam is a pen-and-paper-based test featuring 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be completed in 150 minutes. There is no negative marking.

The syllabus covers three main areas. The first area covers Crop Science, Biotechnology, Plant Breeding and Crop Physiology, Soil and Water Conservation, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Economics and Schemes, and Dairy and Animal Husbandry. The second area covers Computer concepts. The third area covers General Information about Uttar Pradesh.

For UPTET specifically, Paper I focuses on Child Development, Language pedagogy, Mathematics basics, and Environmental Studies. Paper II adds depth in the chosen subject area — Science and Maths or Social Studies.

The best study material for UPTET is NCERT books from Class 1 to Class 8 for content, combined with a dedicated book on Child Development and Pedagogy (CDP). CDP appears in both papers and often carries the most weight in terms of question variety.


How to Apply for UPTET 2026:

The application link is live at uptet.upessc.org from 27 March 2026. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the official website upessc.up.gov.in or the direct portal uptet.upessc.org/otr/
  2. If you are applying for the first time, complete One-Time Registration (OTR) by entering your name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, mobile number, and email ID.
  3. Verify your registration using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email.
  4. Log in using the Registration Number and password generated after OTR.
  5. Select “UPTET 2026” from the list of active exams.
  6. Choose the paper — Paper I only, Paper II only, or Both Papers — based on the class level you want to teach.
  7. Fill in your personal details, address, educational qualification, and category carefully.
  8. Select your preferred exam centre city from the options provided
  9. Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and file size.
  10. Pay the application fee online using a debit card, a credit card, or Net Banking.
  11. Review the entire form carefully before final submission — mistakes can only be corrected during the correction window.
  12. Click Submit and download the confirmation page — note your application number.
  13. If any correction is needed, use the correction window open until 01 May 2026

Q1. What is UPTET, and does passing it guarantee a teaching job? UPTET is only an eligibility test. Candidates who qualify become eligible to apply for teacher recruitment, but final selection depends on individual state recruitments. After qualifying for UPTET, you still need to appear separately in Super TET or other recruitment exams for actual job selection.

Q2. What is the last date to apply for UPTET 2026? The last date to submit the online application form and pay the fee is 26 April 2026. After that, a correction window will be available until 01 May 2026 to correct any mistakes in the submitted form.
